Service Records
The Local Studies Library does not hold records for Gateshead servicemen. Service records are held by a number of organisations depending on the age and status of the records. War Honours Photographs
The Local Studies collection includes a number of resources relating to Gateshead Service Men. These include photographs of officers and men from Gateshead who gained honours during World War One. The photographs have now been preserved digitally are are available via our online photograph archive iSee Gateshead where you can enter the surname of the person you are searching for.
Newspaper Cuttings
During world war one hundreds of obituaries, photographs and reports relating to Gateshead servicemen were printed in the local press.
A number of scrapbooks of these press cuttings are held in the Local Studies Collection and have recently been indexed.

Monumental Inscriptions
The library holds records of transcriptions of epitaphs and gravestones for a number of parishes and cemetaries across the North East region.
