St Mary’s is a terrific venue for bringing learning groups of any age, either as a destination in itself or as part of a day-visit to the Quayside area.

Come and be inspired by the building itself, the stories behind its gravestones, the history of the area, and the wonderful views across the Tyne.

We currently offer a 2 hour hands-on session, focusing on the history of St. Mary's and the 1854 Great Fire of Gateshead.  Bringing local history to life in a creative and engaging way, where possible we use real artefacts, maps, pictures and photographs to stimulate an educational and enjoyable experience.  We are looking to increase our education offer to schools in 2012, introducing new topics.

All Education enquiries should be made through Simon Green, on 0191 4334696 or simongreen@gateshead.gov.uk

We look forward to hearing from you!
